Got a New never used Vision today

Are these a good unit ? Does it need upgrades??? Leave it alone and use it, or what ?????????

No ... they are very bad units.
They need to be open up and all the adjustments turned fully clockwise.
It will constantly need upgrades for it to work.

You should send me that one and save yourself some aggravation.

Get the latest software update Elton and it will be equal to the best of the best. The upgrade to 1.3 if free if you pay shipping one way. The Spectra was one of the first ones made before the name change

Elton ... seriously ... It is only as complicated as you want to make it.
You have one of the most advanced detectors made today and it can be configured to find just about anything metallic.

Learn how to select the preset modes for the type of hunting you want to do and how to adjust the sensitivity as it can be a bit too high for some places.
Learn the three screens and how to switch between them with the trigger switch (Main, Pinpoint, and Analyze).
Try to understand the analyze screen and how it shows the three frequency responses to different targets.
For now, that is about all you need to get out and find coins.

Soon there will be comprehensive book about this detector and you can learn more advanced things as you go along.

Yes ... it is something you need to learn to get the absolute best from it but it takes me days to learn how to use a new video recorder anymore.
Even in the preset modes this detector offers depth and new ways to analyze targets.

I've got mine tweaked to detect plastic and wood. With the Super 12 coil, the iron planet core interferes with coins 6 or more feet deep. Since my backhoe is broken, I cannot use the super 12.

In all seriousness though, I used a v1.0 Vision for a few weeks. While it had a few glitches, and very loud audio, it performed very well and made some nice finds. White's upgrades fix annoying bugs that aren't related to the detector's ability to perform well. In other words, have fun with it for now and send it back to White's for the firmware upgrades when it's convenient for you.
