..hit and old fairground spot that I have been to many times in the past.
Found 5 silver there today. The dry conditions here in Michigan really brought out the silver. 3 mercs, 1 rosie, 1 seated!! Yes!
My first seated out of this spot.

Also found this stack of pennies with what looks like some leather stuck to the coins. A kinda cool find. 7 of the coins are wheaties with the newest being a 1920. The indian that was stuck with em is a 1889. Also found another Indian, 1883.

..when you went detecting with Mike Moutray did you really learn anything from him detecting wise? If so what was it? Just curious. I remember that year you traveled all over making some great finds. A half cent. A half dime or was it a 3 center with the Captn on the rock. A large cent here in Michigan with the Dons. Plus other great stuff. Thanks, Jim

set up on the Explorer 2 and ran with it from there!

When I hunted with Mike and Golddigger I would listen to what ever tips they were giving out and they gave out many especially Golddigger, he is a coin finding machine.

Most of my finds came from hard work and digging trash and listening to what I was hearing as I dug it, as good as Mike and Golddigger are there is no substitute for hours in the field digging targets by your self and learning the machine as you dig!

Probably the biggest help to me was Brian in UpStateNY, he told me keep digging the nails and junk Ray and in time it will all come together for you, when I hunted with Brian in a mellon field in NY I found my oldest coin using a small coil, the joey coil, a copper from 1749.

I have found many great old coins but my best day was with the Cap'tin on a rock 2 miles long off the Maine coast, I found a 1857 flying eagle cent, a 1853 three cent piece, a 1861 civil war token, a 1862 fatty, my first seated liberty a 1877 seated dime and a barber dime going out the door and many ih's in just 5 hours of hunting and never once did I remember the tips that I got from Mike and Golddigger, I learn it from digging all that trash and nails when I first started with the Explorer, I learn how to listen to the many targets and read my iron mask screen.

To answer your question Jim, I did learn alot from them fellas, yes I did but learn alot more digging my own targets and putting in the time in the field, would I go to St. Louis, no I wouldn't, differnet ground from what I am hunting or what you may be hunting but the biggest point is you have to put in the time on your machine by your self.

It's good to have help but one day won't make you a master, it's like starting a new job, you have to work at it and only get out of it what you put into it, bottom line
