Hi all, I was just givin a whites spectrum XLT, I know nothing about this machine so wish me luck with it while I learn  It is so much different then my Fisher I was using for sure, if any of you have any tips on using it, it would be much appreciated, Thanx. I will post my finds with it soon as I get a chance to take it out. The original owner found lots of goodies with it. so heres to hoping I do to. God Bless

I traded my XLT for my Coinstrike and I sure do miss it. It has a pretty steep learning curve, or at least it did for this ole boy, but once I learned it it was awesome. When I traded I was doing a lot of relic hunting and wanted a machine that could see deeper. It has been so long since I used it I really can't give you any tips on it but I found a lot of stuff with it using the pre-set modes.

You'll love it once you figure it out!!

Doug

there are lots of diehard xlt fans out there! the only thing i have ever heard about the xlt is it can be very, very complicated and many have given up on it before they learn how to use it. get advice from xlt specific sites and let us know how it goes.

I am really happy though because it came with the bullseye pinpointer/ head phones/ 3 coils / carry bag/ digger/ hip mount/ etc. so lots of goodies with it. almost overwhelming.

Hi dobbie....I have the Whites Spectrum XLT and really like it! You can either use the programs that are preset on it or you can load your own programs into it! It was fun putting my own on it for coins and jewelry and one for just coins! The only problem I had was forgetting to load it into the Computer and had to remember to do that! There are programs that others have used and were or are on the White's Programming Forum! It has been a long time since I've been on there but you should be able to use the White's Forum and then maybe find those who have programmed their XLTs themselves! Did you get a XLT booklet with it? If you did, it will tell you how to do the programs, if not...try to get one from the White's Detectors in SweetHome Oregon! They will help you if you have too many troubles! I don't remember having alot of problems with it, as I got mine in November of 1994 with the Christmas special! I started finding lots of coins right away, especially quarters and nickels! When you program it correctly, these will really sound off for you, when you go over them...but it's harder to tell the pennies and dimes, but they do have different sounds but not always! I thought I was digging a penny one time and it turned out to be a Silver Dime, so I guess you dig until you get used to it or too tired to dig! Good Luck and God Bless and hope you find lots and lots of coins and goodies with your XLT! :) God Bless! Betty

That detector has a long time great record! You will do good with it! :)

I love my XLT. I have found a lot of coins and silver with mine. I have a silver program and a gold program that I put into mine that works great. My brother has both the XLT and DFX and he likes the XLT more that the DFX. I would love to get another XLT form my son to use. I bought mine 8 years ago with four coils, pin pointer, hard and soft case, headphones, and six metal detecting books for $1,100 off of eBay. I have never had any problems with the XLT, other than the rechargeable battery going bad. You can find programs on-line just Google "Whites XLT Programs". It takes awhile to get use to the XLT, but you will love it when you start finding stuff that other machines missed. If you are missing the owners manual you can download one from the Whites web site. Have fun with your new machine.

Randy

Hope it works well for you. If it don't just let me know and I will make it a new home.:wiggle:

you must be blessed to receive it as a gift - a Gog thing I am thinking. Hope you get the hang of it quickly. Congrats on the Whites machine. SWEET!
