I have tried just about every brand of detector on the market, except for the minelab. I like the garrett units a lot, and am now at a bit of a crossroads. I have an ace350 with the factory coil. Should I invest in other coils, or should I buy an AT pro? I'm more or less interested in just coin shooting. (of course, I'll take gold when I stumble across it!) So what would you guys do? I'm looking at the small coil as well as the large butterfly coil, but wondering if I'd be better off with the AT pro. I don't do any water hunting, so it being waterproof isn't really a bonus point for me.
Thanks!
Darren

You don't need that big butterfly coils, especially for the fell sand balance (or lack there-of) of the Ace series and AT Pro. With that shorter upper rod the heavier coil will be fatiguing, and I haven't found them to be that good on the Ace series. The 350 w/11" DD and smaller 4

If you are just coin/jewellery shooting with the ACE 350, you don't need to invest in the AT Pro. You already are aware of the advantages including better discrimination and better depth with the AT Pro. A small sniper coil for the ACE 350 will get you closer to playground equipment, chain link fences, in tight areas and rebar along sidewalks. A larger coil should get you a little more depth and cover more area should you decide to hunt various sports fields. Below is a graph to show you what the sniper coil can actually do for depth on the ACE 150. The ACE 350 with the sniper would meet and probably beat those depth figures. I personally often use a sniper coil more often then a much larger coil. And as far as gold finding, that 15 kHz on the ACE 350 is the same as the ACE Pro and Scorpion which has been proven over many years to readily respond to gold. :)

You could stick with the 350 and never miss a lick. It's an excellent coinshooter and it will distinguish between bottlecaps and coins. Pick up the Sniper coil and you're good to go for coinshooting anywhere. With its slightly higher frequency it's good for gold and with the iron resolution it's a great little relic machine should you so chose to go that route.

Do you have a Garrett Propointer(pin pointer)? If not, I highly recommend it. Also, get the 4.5" Garrett Sniper search coil. That lil' 6"x8" SEF Butterfly search coil that KellyCo sells is awesome. Another great one that KellyCo sells is that 10"x14" DD search coil. It's really lightweight and with give you better depth and more ground coverage than that stock search coil, while still maintaining an excellent target seperation due to the DD configuration.:thumbup:Best of luck to ya!:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

I have my Sniper up for sale.......but I guess I am expected to give it away for free. No one is interested.

Everybody is spending their loot on AT PROs. I've had a couple of detectors ( same as new ) for sale forever. Everyone wants a steal; of a buy on everything.
