Got A find Today That Amazed Me.

Went back to an area today that we hit a few times this Spring. This area has three cellar holes close to one another and we hit them all multiple times. After a few junk targets I got an iffy overload hit at 1 1/2''.Dug some hunk of junk and said oh well you knew it wasn't going to be good.Rechecked the hole and still was sounding off,dug and seen this all dirty and didn't quite know what it was.

Flipped it over and just about crapped my pants as to what it was. Here it is all cleaned up.

I could not believe that I just dug A Civil War Buckle or Plate, not sure where on the uniform it was used.I could of hit the road right then but I stayed and managed a button and utensil handle as well.

The only cleaning done to the buckle was dry brushing the dirt off and it will be cherished for ever.Never have I thought that I was uncover a find like it.

Take Care John

it was passed up by my hunting buddy that got the over load and passed on it.I was watching him and worked my way over there and checked the target and got the over load too but dug it anyway in the just plowed field.I wise I had the camera to catch the look on his face when I popped it out.99 times out of a 100 it's trash but you'll never find a cash or a treasure like that if you don't dig them. That's a real treasure here in new england.Real nice find John.

I have a hunting partner here that goes with me to just about every site.I keep telling him that when we go to places like this you need to dig everything because you just don't know.He continued to pass on junk signals until he has seen what some of them turn out to be.As for the plate it will be displayed proudly.

Was getting ready to dig a target when I hear someone talking. Asked my friend if he hears people talking or is just me.Just then a lady pops out of the brush and starts to talk to us.First thing that goes thru my head is Mrs. Historical lady of Lebanon.Turned out to be much better than that, she and her two friends were just taking a walk and gave us all the history on that site.We asked if we needed to leave and the answer was no but just leave the area undisturbed as possible. Now I have the name of the person who lived there,a Mr. Daniel Brown.
