Got a Button Yesterday.

I don't know if it is military or not,My button book is out on loan.It is a one piece flat, silver gilt & measures 24mm.Eagle above, below is a shield with RI leaning on a drum in front of the flag.As far as I got the back cleaned I can see no back mark.I used aluminum jelly on it to get it cleaned but don't want to do any more with the front.I don't want to push the issue and destroy it.I also got a sweet coin spill that I am cleaning and will post later on(8 coin total all 1800's).The spill contained 2 firsts for me.Here are some pics of the button and if anyone can help I.D. it that would be great.

Take Care. John

your button listed as "Post Revolutionary War, 1798-1802. Infantry Officer." RI is actually RT. There are several varieties between Pgs. 26 to 31. Nice find John!
