Got a Barber quarter before my SE crapped out on me.:clapping:

Had our club hunt today and it was really a wet one!!! My SE was working fine for about four hours and then I think the rain got to her and she crapped out on me. Had my rain cover on, but she just started going nuts on me with all kinds of noise and I think I may have gotten some moisture in the switch box for my X-! probe or at least I hope that's all it will be. I did find a very worn 1906 Barber quarter and a 27 merc before she crapped out. That Barber was a good 8 inches deep and when I dug my plug the hole filled with water immediately. I was working the edge of the grass next to a hillside and the dirt smelled like a septic tank. There are some cabins on the hill so maybe the sewer smell was coming from their drain field possibly. After our lunch break I was about to call it quits since I didn't have my SE to play with, but John had his old XS with him as a backup and was nice enough to let me use it. I'm sure he will see this and thanks again John.:clapping: My first target with his XS was a 64 rosie with a rusty nail in the same hole and later I got a 24 merc and a 45 wheatie. I also got a silver breast cancer pendant. The coins were few and far between and I only got 52 cents in clad, but I was there for the silver.:clapping: My buddy Lee got a 52 rosie and a 43 war nickel and three wheaties, so he kept his silver streak going. I heard another fellow got a fish scale and a big silver ring, but he took off before anyone had a chance to look at his finds. Had about 12 people show up and considering the weather it was a good turn out. That's all for now fellows. Gotta go clean up all my equipment as it's all pretty wet and muddy. Thanks for looking and HH everyone.

Nice collection of silver. :clapping: I'd take a barber smoothie over a pocket full of clad any day. :clapping: Well done.

Congrats Eddie..some real nice finds!

I hope your SE is allright...try letting it dry out for a few days.

Nice finds ! Love that silver...congrats !!

Tough hunt but some nice finds. You are really dedicated. I hope that your SE comes back to life after you dry it out. Good luck & HH.

SWEET SILVER! Im glad your getting some hunt time in :) keep up the good digs

Thanks Great Republic, Derrelld, CBAILEY IN GA, Bobby Moyers, TokenDigger, McDave, Aaron, born2hunt, teleman2525, stasys and widebody. I got my SE all cleaned up and dried out and stuck my battery pack in and she seems to be working just fine now. I guess the truth will be known when I go detecting again in dryer conditions.:clapping: I think I learned two lessons on that last hunt. Well, maybe three.:crylol: Don't go detecting no matter how well prepared you and your detector might be in a steady down pour. Detecting in a little shower or light drizzle might be fine and most important of all no matter what the weather conditions are, always, always have a back up detector with you. If it hadn't have been for my friend John letting me borrow his XS, my detecting for the rest of the day would have been over. The sun did come out just after our lunch break and I didn't have to worry about screwing up a borrowed detector. Thanks again John and thanks again for all you fellows who replied to my post. Hope you all can get out soon and share your finds on the forum like I enjoy doing. GL & HH.
