Earlier this week...Fresh drop in one of my milk run totters...right under the tire swing...so I looked up its value on the google...says anywhere from 35c to 175.00...its in pretty good shape...i wonder if some kid robbed poor ol grandpas coin collection? I might take it into the local coin shop and see what they think it would rate at?

I also found a 1946 Rosie in my clad pile as I was getting ready to tumble...I have no idea where that came from, most likely in the water though, cause it was grey, and our dirt ones here stay nice and silvery...

I was on the beach this am well before sun-up...as the visibility improved, I saw a guy slinging coil, and buddy, he was SLINGING! I thought, I wonder if thats a 'Fisher swisher'? so I shut off my rig and gently eased on over and introduced myself...some folks dont like to be bothered, and I get that, but I was curious...Sure enough, he was slinging a Teknetics!...been detecting for nearly 40yrs...so I listened to all he said of course...he says the recovery speed of the Tek/Fisher units like to go real fast, in fact, hit deeper signals at high speed...Ya dont say? Also, he had a homemade plastic scoop, so he can sweep it with the coil to find out if the target is in it...good guy...talked of treasures found, returns made, good areas to hunt like the snowpiles, etc...

That's great, Mud.

I haven't been to the beach in a while, but the wife and I are ready to make a trek next month. Just can't agree on a beach. She want's Myrtle and I want one a llittle less "crowded". :look:

Most likely it's in the "change" range unless it is in exception condition. Good luck.

For some readers, like me, I can only presume you mean a saltwater ocean beach? Mind mentioning what beach area so we could have an idea what the ground mineral make-up might be? For example, I've hunted Florida's nice neutral beaches only to return to Oregon and deal with a pronounced amount of 'bad ground' iron mineralization combined with that salty ocean stuff. Quite different. And detectors don't work quite the same between the two environments.

Which Teknetics model was he using? I would think that if he's been active enough for forty years, he would have learned more about the strengths and weaknesses of different detector circuitry designs to make a blanket statement that is easily disproven.

Correct, as long as you're doing an 'air test' or hunting in neutral or very low mineralization, but fast-sweeping these two-filter models in high mineralization and other mineral challenges, defeats some of that ability. Also, if you're using much Discrimination AND in bad ground, that can hamper performance even more.

Well, another long day, kind of hot, but it's starting to cool, so it's time to go pit the F19/5" DD against a Classic ID /4½" Concentric in some iron nail mess. I hope it's my turn to end up with silver.

Monte

Thanks guys, I'll let y'all know...Hey Monte! Thanks for the questions...The Guy had a T2...he also has a 'ML' that he admittedly goes slow with in old silver bearing strata, but he uses the Tec on the beach and inland clad/jewelry on account of its fast and light...I hunt Fresh water...on the shores of Lake Michigan...with an F70 and an AtPro...my Pro gb's at 90 in the water/beach....there are bands/layers of black sand here though, right at the waters edge...Our dry dirt is a sandy loam for the most part, and gb's with the F70 in the high 60's/70's...we also have a lot of parks that were built with foundry spoils/casting sand...

I sling both rigs pretty fast...but I can settle down and work a spot if its old dirt or target heavy...I generally hunt modern park/schools clad/jewelry F70, with gold being the primary target focus in the water with the Pro...

so far my lightening fast speed has not been any hindrance to me at all, add to that my broad 12' (measured) arc, (I go into a deep crouch and sway, with a widelegged gait when I have a lot of ground to cover in a short time)...probably looks like a drunken wobble, which is a well practiced and mastered skill I have aquired over the years....I'm so fast, I often find coins that are dropped tomorrow.!..:lmfao:
