my very first V nickel! in the water, pretty beat up, but when I got it out of the scoop, and held it up to the rising sun to see what it was, I saw those stars around the edge and knew it was not a buff or a Jeff. The beach is packed today..its in the high 70's/80's so it will be sand work for me tomorrow am.

Good work! Those nickels get beaten up quickly.

Nice find Mud. Yep, its early morning swinging time. Great time of the day. Good luck tomorrow. HH jim tn

WTG on the V nickel, Mud. I'm avoiding the beach right now and hope to hit a swimming hole tomorrow or Saturday. Last week was a total bust, but there's more ground to cover. My spot on the river that had been productive will have to be hit early in the morning around 8 am to 10 am in the weekday because of the crowds in the afternoon and evening and don't even go there on the weekends. I got hassled quite a bit last Saturday, but the last thing I want to do is have an argument with somebody and get refused permission to hunt the location. It's been good to me and I've pulled quite a bit of metal, glass, pop tops and beer caps out of the water for the folks who wade in there bare footed. Looking forward to a photo of this nickel.

Im hitting the lake tomorrow...remarkably alot of people braved the 55 degree water today.

John - He mentioned that it was an 06 in the subject.
BCD - Yeah, 70s - 80s = sweater weather around here, heh. The mid 90s sure zap my energy level.
Mud - High Five! That's a nice old coin to rescue from the depths!

Thanks guys, I don't think a picture would turn out very well. Especially since I use the cell phone camera. Yes early am is my time to hunt..I'm generally done by 8 or before, no people around and a fellow has the places all to themselves. I do a very quick sweep of the towel line and the main trails to and from the beach, the waters edge etc..always on the lookout for the right kind of marks in the sand where somebody was scratching around for something. They replenish the beaches here every year, and grade them daily in season, so a guy has to beat the sand machine and is just shooting for fresh drops...nothing deeper than a few inches this early in the year. A guy finds lots of cell phones now, sometimes paper money, lots of tubes of sunblock, empty cans (10c), towels, flip flops, all sorts of stuff..Its exhausting, and sometimes not very profitable, but then again, theres nothing to be found sitting around in the house or sleeping! Good Luck today and this weekend all!

I found about 5 lbs of pop tops, beer caps and other junk in the water, but was really disappointed at the amount of trash people throw on the ground and there are several trash cans at this location. I emptied two loads of junk and a piece of steel in the trash cans and I hope the people who saw me do this don't throw it back in the water to bust my chops.
