Gopher Holes?

Anyone ever encounter a great signal only to dig it and discover a gopher hole? I have been experiencing this. And was wondering if anyone knows why this happens. You get a good reading in the silver range. Usually high like a quarter, half or dollar.

?????????? who knew gophers were
metallic????

Myabe it was just something that fell
in the hole Like christa said Id get a propointer
and ck it with that

I know for a fact that desert rats will gather shiny things(like nuggets)and keep them in their nests.:wiggle:I don't know if gophers do the same thing.

Both seven stripe ground squirrels, and desert gerbils hoard shinny objects. I've never found a coin in a nest, but I've found lots of aluminum foil. It's typically gum wrappers, so perhaps they like the smell or taste.

Yeah that makes sense. I have a pinpointer. Not a good one though. Going to order a pistol probe this week. But anyway. The thing that is weird is that when I dig and come smashing threw these gophers roof. The signals just vanish. No more signal. However. I might just start checking them out when I get the pistol probe. If they hoard shiny things then its worth a look around.
Also, I dunno if you have noticed. But, seems that I find grubs 95% of the time when I dig up a hole that has a coin in it. So, I consider these larva a good sign. They must like the minerals or something.

When I come across a Gopher hole I think one thing.....

Please don't be in the Hole...but of course the target has been pin-pointed inside the hole. At least you don't have to dig though...
