Goodbye slump!!

I've been in a slump lately, mainly due to working too much. Tonight I was able to get out for an hour, and it started slow. I found a bit of clad, then a beat up Wheat penny. Then I got a deep sweet solid signal ringing in around 88...it stopped me in my tracks. I cut the plug carefully, and didn't rub the coin. It was 8 to 10 inches deep, and very clear (thanks AT Pro!). I could tell it was a Barber, so I did not rub it. There are some tiny scratches, I think my glove scraped against it. Anyway it's my first Barber quarter!!!

WTG JC i wana do that, Mickfin

Congrats on the Barber! That is the way to break the slump.

Look how beautiful our coins used to be! What has happened to our currency in this country?? This is why we dig - for the pure beauty of the finds!

I live in Canada, but find a lot of old U.S. coinage here. I agree that the OLD currency both Canadian and American are so much better looking than the modern cheap looking stuff we have now. I am very fond of the U.S. silver, Mercury dimes are gorgeous...

Very nice save !!

1898 is a fairly common year (11,100,000 minted) so I would'nt worry too much about the scratches ...
