Found this today in a Vacant lot in Waco TX

For you Etrac users it gave a 10-47 running Manual at only 15 Sensativity. Ground was terrible. About 6" down in Gravel

Daddyflea, that's a beautiful 1917-D Type 2 Liberty Standing Quarter! I think I'm going to have to take a ride to Waco. It's rare to dig a pre 1925 LSQ with a good clear date because the dates on those coins were raised and received the brunt of the wear. Congratulations on a great find! I hope you get a 1916 LSQ next. Best of luck and...

Happy Hunting!

Hello all

I found these in 2005, a type I and type II 1917 SLQ. The 1916 and 1917 Type I's had a bare boob exposed and that raised quite the ruckus. Later in the year they revised the dies and made the chain mail covering that is so easy to see in your coin.

You can also see on the reverse photo that the Type IIs and all the following SLQs had the three stars under the eagle.

Amazing to think these were produced exactly a hundred years ago. The world has changed somewhat since then.

The ground may be thawing as we speak, your finds get me eager to get out and dig.

i found one last year that was so worn only the Eagle was visible. We are hunting City Owned Lots that are abandoned that used to have houses on them. They are very trashy but productive.

Nice one.
