today my dad found a nice 1940 mercury dime and a 1910 wheatback so i had to top that so when my dad went to his friends garys house i pulled out my detector and detectected his yard and found nothing but clad change but i know he lived in an old house so i set my descimination up a little and i got a real deep sighnal and after about 8 inches i found a 1901 barber quarter and beat my dads finds.
sorry dont know how to post images but will after i learn how to

Well done! I need to find some of that older silver! What detectors are you two using?

i am currently using a garret ace 250, and my dad is using a minelab sovereign but we are both getting fisher f70s this wednesday

That's just new coins, not including a bunch of silver, even a 6 pound cannonball. I also use a F75, but I always
have my ACE 250 in the car with me.

Just a suggestion, the next time you take close ups, try the Macro mode on your camera, it looks like a tulip and
it's for taking close ups.
