I believe either my coil is bad or the connector is bad can any of you guys recommend a good shop to send it to that wont drain me,seems silly but have to be very frugal trying to put my son through college but also keep my hobby which has really helped my health problems any dealers our shops would be greatly appreciated,my machine just started chattering like crazy it hasn't been in water and i tried new batteries, maybe its time to lay this old guy to rest it was a hell of a detector.
Thanks Les

I agree with MWayne. Let the experts do the repair. Factory repair is usually cheaper than 2nd party, even if they are authorized repair centers.

that's probably they way ill go just want the best but cheapest service, college is mighty expensive so i might have to put it off ive sent a few emails out to different dealer's for a "diagnoses quote". Thanks for all the suggestions kinda new at this so all suggestions are greatly appreciated from you guys....

I sent in my 505 and because the battery charge indicator was not working and First Texas sent it back repaired with a new face plate and a new coil. I was only charged less than $14 and that included return shipping. I guarantee you that no other repair shop will provide that kind of service.

Les,

Had a problem with my unit in to First Texas and cost me $40. Not bad. Call them up and get quick phone estimate. Love those guys and all of the First Texas products.

Les.......call this #.....1-800-413-4131 ........ask for Felix..........explain your situation........he should be able to help you find the right person.

Miss Martinez is brand new on the job still in training, so it may not be the only call that either fell through the cracks or is on a list waiting to be taken care of, sorry about that. That's the bad news, but the good news is that she's smart and a fast learner. Try giving a call back & give it another shot, say that Dave Johnson sent you.

The other good news is that she's replacing her brother Hector, who........ just happens to have an EE degree....... so we stole him for engineering dept.!

From your description of the problem, it appears that the machine will have to come to El Paso, control box and searchcoil both (but not the tubing stuff if there's no problem with that). And being off warranty it's gonna cost you something. If the searchcoil cable connector is defective, you'll probably need a new searchcoil since those connectors are pretty much non-repairable. If there's a problem with the mating connector on the electronics box, for our techs who know how to do it, that's a relatively simple repair.

Sorry, I can't give you an actual cost estimate, that'll have to come from customer service dept.
