Pick your spots, its not necessary to hunt with a mask. Nobody is around old schools, some park area's, demo housing housing sites and old city owned lots, to name some. In fact, there are fewer people around now then before the pandemic. But if a mask makes you feel more comfortable, wear one. Its certainly better then staying house bound and not getting out for some exercise and fresh air, imho, anyway. HH jim tn

I’ve seen several people over the years claim that they are going to “give it up” or “sell it all” or “move on”.....and you know what happens? They never do. There’s some other ulterior motive for saying such things. WHY in the world would you wear a mask out metal detecting? WHY would this come into consideration? If your local government requires individuals to wear face coverings when out of the house NO MATTER WHAT....then find one that works! If they do NOT require it, then there’s nothing to consider.....metal detecting is done more than 6 feet away from other humans anyway. Face coverings MUST be worn when in a store, gas station, etc. It’s not necessarily a law that’s put in place by a government entity of some kind, it’s a law put in place by my good friend Mr. DARWIN. Survival of the fittest, and “fittest” includes an elevated level of intelligence about your surroundings and the possible risks contained within.
Whether or not someone is going to continue metal detecting or not has little to do with masks. Figure out what is necessary in your area, do it safely and responsibly, and go FIND SOMETHING! This virus has disrupted enough of our lives as it is, I for one am not going to let it disrupt my metal detecting!

I have hit a local park multiple times this month. No I did not wear a mask and felt no need to do so. People tend to stay away from a decrepit of timer swinging a metal detector. In fact most folks are doing proper distancing. I see some folks who are still flocking together but they are not approaching me. No I did not find much but a few dollars in clad but I was outside, Having Fun and getting some good exercise.

Hey,georgeinSC.
Hah.I live in Santa marta Colombia, here.the Decree states that "We" can go out for exercise for One Hour a Day.IF WE ARE UNDER 70,OR OVER 16 !!!.I I'm 75.

Stone I was 79 in Jan. Cant stay out as long as I could just a few years back but I can still do 4 hours most days. Parks here are usually only good for clad. I just finished a football field. Was hoping for a gold ring but it was not to be. I did find one sterling ring. They have finally opened the local beaches so maybe there will be an opportunity for something yellow.
