good headphones for QDII?

I have tried a few pairs of headphones with my QDII, but they do not seem to work. They were all designed for portable music players, but I bought an adapter so the plug would fit into the QDII's port. Would the adapter cause enough of a voltage drop to keep the headphones from operating? On one pair I got a very, very faint beep that I could only hear if I turned off all sources of noise in my house. Nothing on the others.

Is there a common type that people use for their QDII? I am new to MDing and I don't have a lot of money to sink into it, but I also want headphones because I really don't need to be the center of attention in some of the neighborhoods that I detect in.

You should be ok with any inexpensive set you picked up. You might want to make sure the plug you got is not mono, if it is and you are hooking up the headphones that are stereo you won't get any sound and if you do you won't like what you hear. Plug's won't drop voltage like that anyways, and it's not really voltage but Ohm's that are measured in the headphone's. I know a lot of people don't really like the ear bud type of headphone's but they aren't really that bad for a person on the budget. Go to your local electronics store and make sure you have a stereo adapter. Other than that you should be just fine, if you still have issues with the headphone's when you have double checked everything then there is something a miss in the detector and plug. Keep me posted with your result's PM me if you want. Hope this helped you out a bit.

I purchased a set from ebay for $20 shipped, and I love them. They work really well with my QD-II. Padded 'around the ear' type to block out ambient noise. They even have volume controls built in for each side. I just searched ebay for 'bounty hunter headphones' and they came up. In my opinion, the best I could have hoped for considering the money I spent.
