Howdy Tesoro Fans.????
I have come over to take a look for the last several days..The only new messages I see are talking about Bounty Hunters and Garrets. On the Tesoro forum???
Two weeks ago all everyone wanted to talk about on this Tesoro Forum was how great the X-5 is..of course that was soon after the new C & V hit the market.. After I confronted the proxy guys..they are now nowhere to be found.
If you want to talk about how great other brands are...go to their forums. This forum needs to be reserved for discussion of the brand that pays for this space.
There is so much news concerning Tesoro that we could discuss. Is there not anyone who wants to talk Tesoro?
Mr. Bill and Guv...feel free to delete this if you think it is inappropriate. That is my rant for the week. And please..delete the post..just don't delete me again...
Happy Trails

If you don't like the way people post on this forum don't come here.

Please don't delete the Mayor's post, it is quite telling. Pretty slim pickin's for a rant Mayor, looks like you're addicted to conflict generating forum posting. Perhaps there is a ten step program in your area to help you out with this affliction.
Now in regards to my post, maybe you overlooked the following statement I made:

Rick? or whoever you are...
You have posted three times on this forum in a year. All three messages were to say something negative about me or my messages. You have been such a positive influence on the discussion of Tesoro detectors here.
I really shake my head and wonder why in the world you would waste your time coming on here just to say something ugly to the Mayor. I guess folks do have other agendas to tend to.
You take care Rick.

Bill..
I totally agree with your message. I do tend to lob a grenade now and then. I did not attend my IGLA (internet grenade lobbers annonomous)meeting last night and should have.
Bill I would love to talk about how to read a sight and I have already talked to Vince Gifford twice about coming up with a Cibola in a waterproof box. I am not waiting for them though. Magnum and I are already in the process of waterproofing one and maybe two Cibolas'. Where else can you find a detector that will do that good in the water for $320.00. It will cost us about $100.00 to get it in a box.
Yes I know I get on a rant occasionally. I just got tired of the inactivity over here and was discouraged when all I really saw was discussion of other machines. I know that Tesoro looks at this thing almost every day. I want every forum site to thrive.
Guvner is a friend and Mr. Bill is speaking to me again!
Ya'll have a great day today..
The Mayor is under the weather and can't go relic hunting..First weekend I have missed in several months. How about we start a discussion of whatever you are particularly interested in Bill. At least we can TALK metal detecting today. I will sanitize the keyboard regularly so I won't pass this crap on to you.

Hmmm. I thought a mayor is the leader of ONE town, and someone who is leader of many towns is a governor. If the mayor of one town spends a considerable amount of time managing another town, is he really serving his own townspeople adequately? Just a thought.

bdoubled..
The ole Mayor is getting kinda hard of hearing and just couldn't quite grasp the message you were trying to deliver. You say I am the Mayor of one Town..yep that is right. And I can't be The Mayor of TWO towns???...Why Not??? Everyone deserves the the best as I always say...
Seriously BD..what Tesoro machine do you use? How do you like it? What do you think about the Tejon and the new Cibola or Vaquero?. If you are using an older machine..why do you like it? I am stuck on a Cibola right now but need to buy another machine..which one would you consider?
Thanks for any input...

This is one of the best Ive seen. Barnacle and Mayor, you guys should get an award for what youve said about Tesoros up and coming water machine
Seriously, I for one missed the fact that Tesoro actually pays for the advertising and for all I know the entire forum. - don't put one of them little head-bonking smileys on me, Mayor, you know I'm sensitive .
I, like most of us here, visit more than one site and they all tend to get a little dry - you two have livened up nicely and I wish everyone were as erudite - oh, sorry Mayor - well spoken, as you two.

Sorry to hear you are under the weather, what a bummer during what I believe is probably prime relic hunting season. I know with the snakes you guys have down there, you sure as hell wouldn't find me in the woods until there was snow on the ground. And I doubt that happens very often.
Water proofing a Cibola? For $100? OK, you now have my full attention! How about pictures, parts lists, hints & tips?
The other detector discussion; BH has been in the lower end of the market with a machine high on bell & whistle factor and limited depth performance for some time. Garrett looks to now be making a serious move into the same genre of machines. White's appears to have made a stab at that market with the Prizm series, but that series also bridges price wise up into the mid-priced range. However, Fisher with the ID Excel appears to own the mid-priced market segment for a VDI with excellent trash performance and decent depth.
So how is Tesoro going to respond? The profit margins in this lower segment of the market are very slim. And given that an LCD display quickly drives up the cost of a machine, does Tesoro have the economies of scale to enter this market? Are any of these other machines be sourced from China? Are major sub-components i.e. coil, finished PCB etc coming from China? Will Tesoro decide to stick with putting their effort into low Bell & Whistle factor vs high performance low end machines?
So the bottom line for Tesoro is will new customers and current customers, be seduced by this gaggle of new low end machines? I started with the original Cortes going on 25 years ago, can Tesoro keep me as a customer? I have a good deal of disposable income, but I am fruggle, is an ID Excel in my future or will Tesoro respond with a new HOT toneID/VDI machine?
I appreciate Tesoro keeping their cards close to their vest on new product development. But six months in consumer electronics is an eternity, if you don't respond, and another company gains momentum, then you will get your clock cleaned.

Bill...
As far as I can tell Tesoro has never tried competing down in the price range to try to secure a portion of that market. Remember they have to live with a machine forever. The lifetime guarantee assures them a continued cost on a machine as long as it is out there. I sent in a 20(?) year old Original Silver Saber last month. They completely went through the machine for me..rebalanced the coil..replaced a few screws and the battery box. Then they shipped it back to me freight free and no charge for the repairs.
Manufacturere have already moved some production to China. Bounty Hunter has been there a while. Fisher is building coils over there and who knows what else.
I am sure all of the top three are over there in some shape or form. If you want to compete down in the price range you are forced to seek whatever you can from the lowest cost provider. Right now that is the prisoners and children working in China.
I am about to do a series of pictures on the underwater pulse detector I have put together over the last month. I will put it on the Modificationbs forum rather than here where it does not belong. I will answer any questions once I have it posted.
