Good Finds...

Breaking salt water beaches into three areas: dry sand / wet sand / surf.

I know that the best jewlery finds usually come from the surf.

But leaving that aside for the moment, I am noticing that over the past year I am making more good jewlery finds in the dry sand than the wet sand (non-surf).

Is anyone else noticing the same thing, or is this just my dumb luck?

I think a lot has to do with the make up of your beach. I have several kinds around me. Some are high and drop off, some flat with hard bottoms, but most have a good degree of decline into the water. I dont find a lot in the surf..... heck not even in the wet sand except for the lighter stuff like silver. The dry sand has produced.... just because there is a lot of people on the beach and no one has gotten in the water much except the kids. Also, the dry sand beaches are being renurished or packed thats not helping. Most of the packed sand people can find anything they drop easily. You are better off if they grade the sand a bit to keep it fluffy. From what im seeing no one is kicking butt out there right now.

I'd say that it varies by beach. At one of my favorite beaches I see the same guy in the surf every time I go. He has a wetsuit and spends more time in the water than Flipper. So here I do well in the dry.At another beach the dry is steadily pounded but nobody does the surf. So I just hunt where they ain't HH
