good evening. I have a question.

I love Minelab products. My question is this....if the se pro the etrac use fbs technology what makes the etrac a silver monster? Is it settings or the processor etc.

Can't answer that but I can give you input on the se pro.I've got about 8 hours on it,5 hunts. At first I was ready to give up,seemed way more complicated than the at pro and xterra 705.Well,after looking at the manual, the settings are really simple.I actually made it hard by not reading and looking at the manual while starting it up.now I don't even need to look at it,it was that easy after a few short hunts. And Mike O is real help full.Weight is actually better than the at pro in my opinion,I have no problem.Recovery speed seems overrated in what people say,it's not as fast as other machines but it's not a turtle by any means. The tones are nice and the digital is right on the money.and it's a deep machine,no silver yet but clad at 6 to 7 inches was easy. I will keep mine,I really do appreciate this machine.Although I'd like to try a e Trac,I'd like to try every machine too..Ill keep my se pro,it's a great, deep, honest detector.

Now first off let me be clear I am not trying too come across degrading or confrontational.
But, what gives you the impression the Etrac might be better at finding Silver then the Explorer series?
Granted the Etrac might have a slightly faster processor but, that in no ways makes it better imho at finding silver. It simply can process the signal faster.
Granted you must swing at a turtles speed with an Explorer but, boy can they find their fair share of deep silver.
I wont make this a long drawn out post but, let me just say if you had been on here from 2000 on and had seen all the old silver coins people have found with the Explorer series detectors I think you might have a change of perspective.
Keep in mind many of us dont always post are everyday Mercs and Roosie etc finds and stick to the oldies we find (ei seateds LCs Capped).
There are plenty of people that have gone back and forth between the two finally deciding to settle on the one they like best. To me they both are excellent machines and are comparable in their depth and coin (silver if you choose) finding abilities.
The only plus to the Etrac imho is it is not a discontinued machine and probably can be serviced a tad longer later down the road.
This is my perspective on this so, keep that in mind.

MikeO it just seems the etrac is the more go to machine for silver. I found my oldest coin a 1754 Mexico reale with an se pro. Its a great machine. I've own a ctx 3030 but not an etrac. Im curious being I might be buying one soon. Just was wondering because etrac sells are hot deals.

I have hunted with my SE Pro alongside friends with E-Tracs and I out do them most every time. That is one great machine you have. I learn something new about mine every time out

I started out with the Explorer XS in 2002 and have had all the top end FBS , as far as I see there is not really any difference and it all boils down to settings and screen program's.
I bought an almost perfect Explorer 11 a little while ago and have found another at a detecting shop which I bought that aswell , so along with my ET they can do for me till Minelab wake up and bring out a new ET in the long distant future .
Well my E 11 is ready for the off so I am off to the beach for a few hours tonight .
If I find anything much then I will put on here . I assure you all that the Explorer's are brilliant on all targets within its depth range capability.

Went out last night with my Explorer 11 and had around £23 in coinage , no rings.
Seems to me that the Explorer is as good as the ET in most areas though lacking in the target info a bit , less stable numbers but seems to be deeper ? or at least louder on deeper targets .
Always wondered why the Explorer has sensitivity to 32 and the Et has it to 30 ?
Anyway I am happy with mine and feel that all the ET and Explorer range needed was putting into a lighter 3 piece stem with the FBS 2 then they would have been a lot more successful than the CTX is now.

If you have ever heard the unique silver sound the SE gives i think you would change your mind. The ET is simpler out of the box to learn..... but once the learning curve is done the SE will hold its own out there.

When using my older Explorer's in the past I did find more Silver hammered and all 4 of my cut quarter hammered's were with my SE when I used one.

I have been using the Explorer since 99 and love it...I own the XS,II +SE PRO---once I learned the machine I cranked up the audio variability + limits to 10 using advanced mode conductivity and never looked back---Silver will SCREAM with a high pitch tone you cant miss.Ive found lots of silver through the years operating in this mode although I prefer finding gold.....cant say about other machines but I find the explorers are great on silver...just my opinion

My gain is at 8 or 9 and the limits at 10 , I have tried to get it to be like the ET which I am more used to now.
My ET is now back in the box for a rest and my E 11 will be my main machine fore a while.

Dew, you are spot on. I have owned two of each and found the Etrac to be easier to use straight out of the box. I have watched these forums for many years and have witnessed first time Explorer users make great finds with the Etrac on their first two or three hunts. I have no doubt that an experienced Explorer(original, 11, SE, or SE Pro) user can hang with any of the newer Explorers(Etrac-3030). I have said many times that all great coin detectors are judged against the Explorers.
