Good day with the F70 and 6in coil..

spent a couple of hours in a soybean field hunting a home site gone long before 1900. Found 6 cents, buckshot, buckles, buttons, even a clay marble. I'm still waiting this place to give up a silver coin though. The 6in coil is just the ticket for wading thru the iron that covers these old home sites.

Hi Phil.
How do you like the 6 inch coil? How is it for depth and separation?

I hunt a lot of trashy areas here in Ohio and was not sure if the DD coil would be the way to go or get the small 6 inch coil.

Carolina Clyde says he almost always uses the 6 inch with the F-70. What is your opinion?

BTW...Nice finds!

it has outstanding depth and pretty good separation. Maybe the separation is not as good as the DD on the F75 but it's pretty good. As for depth, I tested it at my friends house with an 8in deep copper penny we buried years ago. The F70/6in coil sounded off on the penny even with the coil raised off the ground. The ID jumped around some but it was a "dig me" signal. On an air test done right after that, the 6in coil would sound off until the coil got over a foot away from a nickel I laid on a clear spot of ground. I was really impressed with the F70/6in coil combo.
