my brother, my dad, and a couple of my friends got out on a local lake to try and catch some fish. yesterday i went out with my brother and friend and i caught my first ever northern pike, 23" (released), through the ice - on an ultralight rod with 4-pound test and a small panfish lure! it put up a huge fight and was a blast to pull in. well, today wasnt much different. we all caught a few minnow-sized fish that we could have put on the tipups, but i caught a few more than just those. i managed to catch 5 striped bass (4 keepers), a blue gill, a pumpkinseed, a walleye (very rare in this lake, released it), and a perch about the size of your pinky. it was definitely a fun day out on the ice and i hope i can have a few more of these days again this year!!!
