Gonehunting's settings.....

Gonehunting

This is how I have mine set up... I have held off posting this cause I am sure it is not the best and I'm sure it will be picked apart by the "pros" but it really seems to be working for me.. It is a longer post but it is what I have been seeing since changing my settings... Hope it helps...
Gonehunting's settings

I used them in a heavily pounded park yesterday. Works very very well! Great setup!

Anytime you use less descrim you realize more depth from any machine.

Thanks. Plan to give them a try this weekend.
cool man let me know how it works for ya...:detecting:

When using this are you guys digging targets based on the tones you hear? Or are you digging targets based on what the FE-CO grid shows? I hear a constant null, but the grid shows an obvious iron target in the bottom right corner,AND it shows a target in the same area a silver coin would be? Also, is there anyway to change the sensitivity, say, from auto +3 to auto +2, without having a 2nd profile set up, or without using the exchange? The only thing I can seem to find is how to change the volume. Thanks pals!

If you are hearing a null, there is most likely a rejected target causing the CTX 3030 to "null" out the Threshold. But if you are also seeing a target in the same area as a silver coin, I'd be digging that one up. Use Pinpoint with Target Trace to separate and isolate each target. There will be times that the nulling of a large rejected ferrous target will "overwhelm" the target signal of an accepted coin target. If you're using Ferrous - Coin Separation, your chances of hearing the response of the coin will be better than the other separation modes.

To Adjust Sensitivity Settings
1. Press and hold the Sensitivity button to display the Sensitivity Quick Menu. Choose from the following options:

I don't watch the screen so I might be missing something, I go by audio and look at the screen to confirm.

The sensitivity button is the left function button.

Sensitivity/Left Arrow
Press and hold to view the
Sensitivity Quick Menu (page 21)
Press from the Detect/Map screens
to view the last adjusted sensitivity
setting

Hold down the sensitivty button (to the left of the menu button)until the sensitivity menu comes up.. you can change from auto to manual and the amount of sensitivity.

Thanks everyone for the fast responses! I guess I should have just tried digging a few trial targets to learn, after reading everybody else's success stories I wanted to cherry pick some real nice loot.
I know how to change from auto to manual, but no where in the sensitivity select screen do I see a place to change from +2 to +3, or to change my manual sensitivity setting, if that makes sense. I'm sure I'm missing something extremely simple. So here is what I do, step by step, please insert the additional step I need to take. People are saying to hold down the button for the menu to pop up, but all I have to do on mine is press it once?
I press the left arrow key while I'm detecting, the sensitivity screen pops up, but all I can do is either go up or down, to pick either auto or manual. I just bought it, but I imagine it was in the store since the 3030 came out. Perhaps I should update the software?

Most of the pads on the CTX 3030 are multi-function pads. Check out the diagram on page 2 of the manual. You'll find one function is accessed with a quick press. Another function is access with a long press. That is why we've said to press and hold the Sensitivity pad. When you do that, the Sensitivity Menu will appear. Those choices are Sensitivity Type, Auto level and Manual level. Scroll down and highligh Auto Level, press Select.... There you will find big numbers representing your Sensitivity offset. Use the left or right arrow pads to decrease or increase your offset. When you get the setting you want, press Select to resume hunting. Now that you've accessed the Auto Level, you can change the offset by short pressing the Sensitivity pad. When you short press the Sensitivity pad now, you will be taken back to the offset numbers. Make the changes and press Select to resume the hunt.

If you press it and release it will just show you the current setting. You need to hold it to see the menu. The first item on the menu lets you select Auto or manual by clicking down once to the item then use the right arrow to toggle Auto or Manual. Then the next item is Auto. Right or Left arrow to raise or lower the Auto + or - number. The same with the Manual item if that is what you selected in the first item.

i have also seen this phenomenon of an iron null with a coin type signal shown on the screen with no audio (only the null) it does say in the manual in ferrous coin this will happen have only investigated a few and as of yet no joy in finding a coin more research is needed to see what this really means?

sorry for the dumb question but in this pattern are you running a wide open screen,,,, and hunting by tones only ? ( i saw the video and it starts with a blank screen/no disc and I never see it edited t add any disc,,,,)

Yes no discrimination.. A few others use some discrimination, but this machine is made so you can set up exactly how you want to run it so, that is a matter of preference for me..

kewl,,,, I like to hunt by tones,,,, I will try it,,, thanks for al the post !!

That's the cool thing about the CTX, is you can set it for however you want.. Digger has a really cool setting for a specific area for IH's and older coins.. His tones are nothing like mine...
here it is in the Classroom... Classroom settings-Digger
