Gonehunting with the Freak

Today we headed to Durant. The first yard was an awesome start for Freak. It was a super trashy yard.. only yeilded up an old key for me, but Freak scored the Find of the day....
After looking at several houses, we went by a house that I have tried to get permission to for almost a year... It is a house that was exactly a 100 years old to the day. The landowner was excited and let us hunt.. We did have to give our finds but we photo'd everything.. My first old target was an 1889 Indian Head.

After that I was pumped... I moved up along the flower bed and got a 14-48 signal at 4 inches.. thinking clad quarter, I was shocked..

It is silver and has a "10", I am assuming is the size. I haven't had time to research it, but it's the best conditioned thimble I have ever found.

After the thimble my next deep target was this 1891 Indian cent..

Although I didn't find any silver coins, the thimble was a find of the day for me... Of course the usual Tax token showed up. I also found two wheats the oldest 1918 and an old costume jewelry ring... and we get to go back..

On a second note the thimble was donated to the Three Rivers Museum in Durant.. the landowner is the President of the Museum..

Your videos are very entertaining. Good production! Love the thimble....and IH's are one of my favorite coins to find.

Thanks guys..

Great finds but why did u have to give everything away? Did the home owner say that before you hunted? I have had owners tell me that before I hunted and I politely declined and found another house....I pay way to much for my equipment, gas, and my time to give everything away.

I Agree

But I commend you for your contributions to the Museum
I'm not sure I would have been so giving

yeah we discussed half and half but the finds werent really all that much. I would have like to have kept the thimble but he is vice president over the local museum so it is on loan under Gonehunting for History. Lol can't hurt to get the GfH name out there.

lol sometimes it helps to do stuff like that. If the neighbors see me detectingat that nice house then they think well if they let him, surely he will take care of our yard... So when I go and ask then they usually say yes...I found a 2.50 gold piece in a yard where the land owner saw me in the next yard and asked if I wanted to hunt in his... In fact the yard I was hunting I found two merc and a Franklin half. It was hard parting with the mercs(kept the half) but well worth the "donation" to be seen in that yard. Cause that afternoon I was coming home with gold...

Thanks for the entertaining video guys! Take care and congratulations on the finds.

Good video !

Thanks guys... Tuesday of next week we are both heading to hunt some property that had a pre civil war encampment, Im hoping to bring back some really nice relics....

Great video and fun to watch. Really nice silver coin there (sorry you didn't dig that!). Keep them coming and keep talking. Sort of like detecting with some comedy thrown in and it was nice seeing those old dates. You are getting older coins than where I'm currently hunting in Germany. LOL

yeah the comedy part, well If I could get the camera on him when he doesn't know it.. now that would be some comedy...lol

Gonehunting. I got your answer. You need two cameras. The one filming him would have to be one that could be hidden pretty good. The other one is a decoy, but don't make it too obvious. For all we care it could be a digital audio recorder and you could put some funny comments at the end, or as an overlay, etc. That could be funny. And I doubt he sues you! LOL

Yep we use three cameras when we are videoing so there is always a chance.
