Goldquest / Surfmaster Clone Prototype

Clive...NICE !

I have that same 10 inch coil on my Goldquest. I like it a lot better than the open 11 inch coil.

Ya, it seems to tune a lot more readily in the salt water. I'ts when you can run at the low delay and SAT levels that the GQ really shines.

Just gotta sweep nice n slow.

Still the best PI unit I have used on the beach (maybe because I found the most gold with it). Gonna try out the Infinium and TDI too, but won't ever sell my GQ. Still kicking myself for selling my spare one !

It will find gold jewelry the Excal will go right over. I have used both and the Excal is a great machine. But it will not find smaller gold jewelry like the GQ....and the GQ will beat it depth wise too...but it will also find lots of iron ! This is not to say the Excal cannot find smaller gold jewelry...this is in comparison to the GQ.

Excal - great depth, less sensitive to gold jewelry, less iron ( actually, hardly any...I still got fooled by bottle caps).

GQ - greater depth than the Excal, more sensitive to gold jewelry, much more iron.

One can experiment with the pulse delay on targets and possibly the SAT speed to try and distinguish iron, but I found by the time I messed with all the different options, I could have just dug up the target so that's what I do. You will definitely dig more trash with the GQ.

This one looks like some things have been done to the coil--it seems to have the shielding boosted up from previous versions--a lot. This is a good thing in current because once you start to run the SAT above half way the depth is reduced. Never have been that crazy on either case though. One thing for sure--none of my 'Cudas ever leaked.

Will the coil fitted to this goldquest work on the Surfmaster dual field...I really want a smaller coil badly....can anyone help with ideas for a smaller coil
