Goldens maiden voyage

Took the Golden uMax to a close by park for a Get to know You hunt. Put Notch width control at 10:00, Disc. at wide open, Sens. just in the red before in chattered. Hunted in Disc. Mode and let Tones tell Me what to Dig. I dug just Softer Modulated repeatable High Tones. Dug 25 Targets and 23 were coins at 6-8 inches deep. Only 2 trash targets that sounding like it as broke up but were deep sounding so dug them. All clad except 2 wheaties which were 8". This spot has soft soil that is Mild and even clad sinks deep. My ground is Mild but still surprised with Depth I was getting. Deeper targets stayed high tone and didn't drop a Tone as heard some say. This Detector is Fun to use. Next time will play with the notch feature a little.

Sounds good for the first try. Notch is amazing. Increase till a nickel disappears and back down till it sounds good on a four way swipe. Lots of luck-John

Harold, I dug more gold rings with the Golden Umax than any other detector I have owned. The notch adjustment is very sensitive as I remember, but once set is nearly foolproof. The trouble is, I can't remember how I set it up. Too long ago and too many detectors ago. You will like this detector. I always wished that Tesoro could add the tones to a Vaquero or Tejon. It just does not seem that hard to do, but I am no engineer. Good luck and keep us posted.

Yeah I totally agree as never could understand why they don't put the 4 Tone I.D. on the Vaquero?
I had one and it was great, But was always a Tone I.D. Guy so missed it and eventually sold it. Never liked stopping to thumb the Disc. Boy if they could Make a Tone I.D. Vaquero it will sell like Crazy!
Could leave rest of Detector as is even.
