Golden uMax

Smudge

I had a great hunt this morning. Two parks that I had hunted before with my Compadre.

Now that I am starting to get used to the tones, it is a real pleasure to dig only those high tones if I just feel like coin hunting.

The high tone either means its a coin or something large buried deep and it doesn't take long to tell the difference. If its not a coin, the sound is a bit scratchy.

I'm not sure if its the detector or just coincidence, but I dug 18 dimes. Wow. That sets a record for me.

I also dug 18 pennies (not a zincoln in the bunch, I notched those out), 5 quarters and only one nickel.

I dug only a few pieces of trash.

I have to say if you're a coin shooter, the Golden uMax would be very hard to pass up!

I'm curious, how does it compare to the Compadre in picking out those dimes and quarters? Did you try the same area again with the Compadre to see if you've missed anything?

Sounds like the uMax is another great MD. Good luck in the future.

I hunted this park a few weeks after I hunted it with the Compadre. Some of the targets may have been more recent drops, but quite a few had been there awhile.

Did the Compadre miss them or did I simply not swing its coil over that particular spot? Hard to say.

I can say that I dig far less trash thanks to those tones.

No gold yet, but I'm hopeful.

All this Golden Umax talk made me want to take my Golden out for a swing. I found an elementary school that I've not detected in yet. In a couple of hours I found, 2 dollar coins, 29 quarters, 26 dimes, 3 nickels and 15 pennies. I only dug a few trash targets. The Golden is a coin hound and will also find you gold if it's there to find.
