Let me see if I understand this correctly. If you discriminate out iron you will not hear the first low tone of the four tones. If you notch everything out above nickle to zinc pennies, you will only get two tones. The second tone for nickles and the high tone for copper pennies, dimes, and quarters. I also assume that if you discriminate everything out up to copper pennies, dimes and quarters you will only get one tone, the high tone.

If you just disc out iron, you will still get the low tone for foil.
