hello there just was wondering if i got a external speaker inserted in the ear phone jack if it would be as loud as the normal speaker just don't like ear phones curroius if any one has any experience doing this

It should be. One way to find out.

I have been using my Radio Shack wireless head phones with my Golden. They work great!

it might not accomplish much.

In the early days of "metal/mineral locators" quite few models were offered that either lacked a headphone jack at all, or they came with funky headphones and didn't have an internal speaker. Some manufacturers would sell an "accessory" speaker that plugged into the headphone jack, but because the signal amplification wasn't already in the circuitry, it was built into the bulky housing that held the speaker.

Your Golden

monte my built in speaker is blown and i don't want to wait around to send it in thats all the reason i don't like head phones is the cord wiggles around my face but if captain hook says his cordless works out then i'd be all over it

check around at electronic supply stores or radio shack, match out the speaker impedence, size, mounting holes, etc and install yourself.

I was going to say the same thing but I have almost had my fingers cracked with a ruler for even mentioning opening up a Tesoro from some forum members when I mentioned about adjust the ground balance pot. on a preset ground balanced Tesoro :lol:. I don't know about Tesoro's but recently my wifes Garrett Freedom Ace Plus blew the speaker & I found an old clock radio that had the exact same speaker (same size & same ohms). Soldiered it in and worked as good as new. Steve.

It shouldn't' be tough to find a replacement. Not as many electronic parts stores around as there used to be, but they are out there. Good lick.

Out of curiosity, have you called or E-mailed Tesoro to ask if they might send you one? It never hurts to ask.

Monte

no i have'nt i just called them only if it was under warranty and its covered but would you knowthe size of speaker and style of ohms i'm looking for? i'm not bad with a solder gun, who knows could be just a broken wire?

Amcjavelin. You are talking about new developments in metal detectors that could make company's panic.Electronic engineers that design metal detectors have been trying to close off the electronic control housing, but could not totally seal the compartment due to the speaker. The speaker drains battery power and lets in outside contaminates such as moisture etc...The future metal detectors will have this feature. If you want to use the detector speaker you just plug one in and strap(velcro)it were you want it,say closer to your ears etc...This will make the detector much smaller in design. You are on to something good Amcjavelin.

well i don't consider myself no genious but was trying to find a cheap way of not using earphones and did'nt really send it in that's all just did'nt want to wait three weeks to a month thats all
