Golden uMax Finds Some Kind of Ring

It was my first target and it was only about inch deep on the sidelines of a soccer field. It rang out loud and clear. There's no markings and it discriminates out between foil and nickel. It's really tiny. It could be a baby's ring.

Sweet find! Nice to know you can tell the difference between foil and a nickle! Good hunting! Beale.

That is a small ring the golden retriever did its job today congrats Tabman!

Looks like gold to me.

After I read where you stated "the old tone model didn't make a good jewelry hunter anyway", I just had to take my 'old tone' Golden uMax out for a few swings today.

Tabman,
If it would have been a better hunter it would have found one with the karat marking :crylol:

Excellent find. For as much dirt as you dig, you deserve it. You could make a earring out of it..................

You don't have to try hard. The Golden is just a nice machine.
I do think it may turn out to be gold if you have it tested.
What does it read on your GoldBug?

Mike, it reads 55 on the Gold Bug. I'm glad you asked because I went out and did some testing in the yard with the Golden on the ring that I found today. I decided to lower the the discrimination a tad so I can get better depth. Also, to make sure I'm detecting in the 51 - 59 range (mid-foil to nickel). That my favorite range for gold rings. I notch out everything from 60 - 80 or just ignore the low and mid-upper tones. That gives me a good shot at gold and silver rings. That setting also lets me find lots of nickels, dimes and quarters as well.
