Golden Umax finds 1787 NJ copper

Research on a park in my NJ town told me an old house was once there, maybe a farm. Dug lots of deep nails and some interesting old metal things there in the past, but no older coins, no silver. This coin was near where the house was and finding it tells me more about the age of the place. Was in Disc mode using the 7" concentric coil, got a high tone and switched to All Metal to check the depth, the signal strength sounded like a penny/dime at 5" deep. Coin was 7" deep was under a tree root. Dug up old metal things in the socker field there too, going to spend more time at this park. The only other NJ copper I found was back in the 1970's in the front yard of an old house 3 miles from this park.

Hi Jabbo,

It was nice meeting you yesterday at the park. I told my buddy Ken about your NJ Penny find, and he saw this entry; said it must be yours. After you left I stayed in the park for another hour. No finds for me. I went to HistoricalAerials.com today and saw that house on the map. Pretty cool stuff. See ya soon at the park.

If you ever want to get together with Ken and I and hit up that area along River Road let me know the next time we meet.

Good hunting!

a little better. Dug up some old stuff there, looked like from the 1800's but nothing worth keeping. Jabbo
