Still having trouble getting into some older stuff. Stuck at 1 merc and 8-10 wheaties. Got shot down by 2 homeowners today so back to the schoolyard. Got 30 today (clad/coppers) for about 2.5 hrs. About the same the day before. Been also hitting the little strips of dirt between pavement and fence lines in some alleys with some success. May go hit an older schoolhouse tomorrow....???? Getting plenty of coin, just the wrong ones but it'll help pay for batteries and gas. I'll get some of the shiny stuff one of these days......

That's a good haul, and its nice to warm up on the clad anyway! :clapping: Good Luck, and yes, you will be finding the shiny stuff soon.

Nice Half Dollar:thumbup:

.....Those big clad halfs do not come out of the ground too often for me, I've found more silver half dollars than clad halfs. The Golden Saber ll is much like my Pantera, only without manual ground balance, do you use notch reject much? I do not use it, prefering to set notch control to break tone on a zinc penny while running disc. at minimum, it makes for a good high coin "cherry picker".

I also have dug more silver halves, maybe 10-12 over the years and I think this may be my first clad half...?????

Funny you mention the notch. I still struggle with it and wonder how much I may be missing by using it? I'm after silver so missing gold rings & nickles, etc. isn't a real concern and I still nail one once in a great while. Back to the notch...I hunted 3 different school yards these last 2 days and all are old enough to have a chance at some silver, one barely. Today I spent the most time at the oldest school were the first time I hunted it I was digging LOTS of pull tabs. It was driving me nuts!!!!! Both yesterday and today all my pennies were coppers (pre-82)....somewhere around 30+ pennies. I also didn't dig one single pull tab today and this place has many? Don't think I dug any yesterday either and if I did it was very few? It was NICE!!!! I did dig some deep cans and a couple of bottle screw caps. My disc was set on 6 and notch level on 6.5-7 ish? I've got a ball field in town that is REALLY bad for pull tabs and crap. I think I'll maybe shoot it again with these settings and see what turns up? Lots of chatter with these settings but I kinda like digging the coppers instead of zincs and very few (if any) pull tabs? If you guys thing I may be missing the deeper silver please let me know what settings you'd suggest? Today I was listening for some softer, sweeter, deeper "whispers" and was prepared to go deep if I heard any of these but I didn't so I may be missing some of the deeper with my current notch set to reject....????

Here's todays dab of clad and coppers....

oneguy,

......If you are after higher conductors like silver coins, I would use this setting: Notch switch OFF, Notch contol set on 5 or 6 to where it 'warbles' or break tones high/low on a zinc penny, run disc. at Min. and the dig all the high tones. You can dig the low tones if you want to,,, or ignore them, that's up to you. This is my trashy (aluminum) park setting on my Pantera, good hunting to you.

Hombre....Thanks! I'll try that and see what happens........
