Golden Sabre - how does it compare?

Before I got a GTI2500, I used a Golden Sabre. It's many years later, but the old machine still runs. In particular, I got a 'scratch' on the discriminate dial that IDs pop tabs pretty well.

I'm wondering though, how does it compare with the new machines?

Once upon a time, I had a Golden Sabre. I really liked, it was a really cool detector. Then one day, it got an intermittent in it. You know, I could take it apart on the bench, poke and pry, hit it with freeze mist, use a heat gun on it, it would never act up. But, as soon as I took it detecting, it would thoroughly p.i.s.s me off. :biteme: One day, I was detecting down at the Kings River, and it started doing it's "dingy ding thing" and in one swift instant of anger, I grabbed it by the loop and twirled it around my head, and threw it out in the middle of the river, and waved it bye as it slowly sunk going "dingy ding ding. :nopity: Now don't misunderstand, I think Tosoro makes DARNED good detectors. Maybe the best! I really love the LST I'm using now. But, just the name Golden Sabre, brings back the experience of that hateful metal detector.

I can see how it would be frustrating to have that happen! I can't say I wouldn't have done the same thing really. :buds:
