Golden+iron slug=silver dime......

Nice find JB

When hunting a popular spot.... I believe that most good targets anymore are masked by iron and aluminum junk and most of the obvious good signals have already been dug. Unless you have the luck to find an untouched site, the iffy signals are all that are left in some places, and it takes the curious minded detectorists to find them, ya done good.

I wonder what kind of signal your GMT 1650 would have given on that slug and dime?

Very Nice

The 1650 is the best detector I've seen for hunting in iron but it wouldn't have separated the slug from the dime as close as they were and considering the slug is quite a bit bigger than the dime. I think it would probably have averaged the iron and dime and gave a foil range signal, but I wouldn't have dug it as I was hot, soaked with sweat and in the process of going home to the air conditioner:). I'm not at all sure the slug wasn't what gave the signal as it did sound a lot like some rusty iron washers I've dug, but even if finding the dime was blind luck I'll take it:).
