Golden finds silver

I recently traded my GOlden uMax to my partner Hal, for a pristine Whites Eagle SL II. We took then out today to some old house sites. SO what goodies turned up today? Here they are:

Here you see the usual suspects and a few gleanings. The stuff on the left is typical of all the "junk" finds - it's not everything but sums up the total. Old jar lids, fuses, part of a U-joint, tabs, screwcaps, bits of lead, copper flashing... most of the stuff you'll find around old house lots that ave been cleared.

Here's the gleanings. A wheatie or two, some Memorials and clads round out the coins. Also is a thimble, Marked Compliments of Fairley Transfer CO," and a Williams shave stick base, dated 1910. Down in front is a "Princess Pat" rouge lid lid and an Army Eagle coat button - fitting I suppose for the first day out with the Eagle.

Most of this stuff is just the sort of thing you'll find around old house lots that have been cleared. For his part, my partner Hal found a few similar odds and ends - - and a nicely engraved sterling silver spoon with the Golden. That spoon turned the trick... you don't find too many pretty chunks of silver like that.

I don't think he'll be trading that Golden back to me. :)

Thanks for reading.

That Princess Pat lid reminds me of a foil milk bottle lid I found in my yard early in the summer. It was from a dairy that is no longer in business but my better half saw it and started talking about the dairy and a how the area used to be. She grew up in the area and I am a relative new comer. Nice to have a little piece of metal turn into reminiscing and more bonding.

Those rouge-tin tops were common back in the early 1900's. Rouge did go to the flip-up type of container we now call a "compact", but they also came in small tins like this, somewhat reminiscent of round tobacco tins.
This one doesnt show up in any of my research. I suspect it is a common early lid, probably something like a small "pocket tin" for quick touch ups on the go.
ANother piece of someones life that I now get to hold in my hand. I wonder who the owner was?

Congrats on the finds! I really like the Princess Pat! I found one also and like it. You had a very good hunt, Beale.
