I had an interesting experience last week. Recently my neighbor next door was attacked at night and the guy grabbed his gold neck chain. They scuffled and the attacker got away. At the time it was thought that he had made off with the gold charm that was attached. My neighbor, Dave was able to hold onto the chain itself. Now as it happens, I have permission to cross through their back yard to more easily get to the trash dumpster in the alley. A freind and I were carrying a heavy load across one day last week after doing some roofing and I happened to look down and see something that at first looked like a peice of gold colored foil. Still, I was curious and on the way back after emptying the load I decided to check it out. I was stunned to find a 14kt gold name charm with the word "Dave". They are usually at their other property and I had no phone number for them, so I left a note in the mailbox knowing that they would check it sooner or later. When they got in touch with me a couple of days later they were ecstatic! He was just thrilled when he came over and I was able to give it back to him. This was not a metal detecting find but it was a good feeling to be able to return a lost item to the known owner since I know how I would have felt if I had lost it.
