hello everyone here
i would like to get some opinion about the goldbug2.
i need a machine for tiny celtic gold coins.
please give me a wide info about this unit.
but my mainquestion: an i use any silentsearch mode or there is always threshold humm???
thanx in advance

A lot of "depends" are going to follow these comments. Your mileage may vary.

The Gold Bug II is an excellent machine for small gold. It is very HIGH frequency and so good for very small gold. Whether that gold is in lump/nugget form or in coin form. The question becomes what are the depths you are looking to find the gold? To aid in your search, if you are using a GB II, you have a choice of 3 coils. The 6" coil will find very small gold but, the depth will be shallow (depending on the signal from the gold and the size of the object). You also have a 10" and a 14" coil you can consider. Those will find deeper gold but at a price as well.

This is a VLF machine as well. For ground that is heavily mineralized, you will have issues with the GB II. But you will need to work with your controls and you can mask some of that, but, again, at a price. You will miss some of the gold that a pulse induction machine would pick up no problems.

For a good all around machine, it's not a bad machine at all. But training on the tool would be a big help for you. Any machine you use will have a slight background hum (so you can catch those small sounds on the edge of the signal). You can block it out but you will miss gold by doing so.

You can always go to the Fisher web site and check out the manuals. They are found at : Fisher Detector Manuals

As always, have fun!

i wasnt able to figure out this part from manual.
so the threshold botton on the back will effect the dept or its only an audio threshold button.
so what i want to ask is :
can i switch it in any silentsearch mode or i will hear the humm all the time?
or i can turn down only the threshold if i want silentsearch.

Hunting with the thresh hold buzzing is mind numbing indeed, but you really need to hunt that way to maximize your efforts. When you hunt in silent mode, the signal must first break through the "wall" the silent search presents on the thresh hold, so you will miss some gold!
