Goldbug Version numbers, what do they mean?

Looks like my Goldbug SE is a version 1. What does that mean exactly as opposed to versions 2, 2.9, and 3.0? Will I be able to tell approx target depth by the weaker sounds? Can mine be sent back to FT and retuned to a 2.9 or a 3.0 and does it cost anything?
What sort of depth are you guys getting with 2.9 and 3.0 machines anyway? I am air testing about 5 inches on a silver quarter with the 5 inch coil and gain at 50% in all metal, 7 inches with the 11 inch coil.
I was hoping for 10 inches or better ? Guess I need to find a location with less EMI so I can crank her up?
Thanks,

Tom V.

Software updates and improvements. Version One does not have modulated vco audio in the disc. mode. As for depth on a silver coin you have to remember your detector operates at 19khz which is not the best freq. for silver which is one of the highest conductors know to man. Test a nickel and report back. As for updating it?????? Give them a call. The SE version I believe said vco audio in ads. Maybe I'm wrong about this but I would call Fisher and express my feelings. Happy customers never hurt a company. One unhappy customer + the internet could cause some damage. Best regards.

What version would gold bug Se calabrated with? And what about the cabales version? Is the pro in with these software changes. This if for all the pro metal detectorests out their. Whats the big diffrence in the numbers? And can they be changed to ones specifcations? Just not to sure what they all mean...

Cabelas version 1 and 2. No vco audio. Older Goldbug SE. 2.9 with VCO audio and manual and ground grab balance. New models available. Cannot be changed to your specs. To be safe the pro model with version 3.0 will do the trick. If an SE comes up for sale ask for the version number first. The vco audio makes all the difference in the world.

Thanks , I am sending my used version 1 GBSE package back to the dealer in exchange for a new AT Pro when he gets them in.
