Goldbug 11" coil ?

SWMO Mark

New member
I have been waiting 3 weeks for a 11" DD coil for my Goldbug SE. My dealer says they are back ordered. Does anyone know if the F75 or T2 coil will work on the Goldbug ? Thanks, Mark

side by side test .....your mileage may vary....

...neither would ground balance correctly...they would always be a little positive. Not saying you will experience the same thing....as apparenely Jim did not....but I tried two 11"DD from F75's and that was what I found.
They did air test fine and the detector ran fine but the GB was off.
Just be aware to test and make sure it ground balances neutral.
Would be nice as I have a few spare F75 coils laying around.....I never tried the others...might try tonight.

I had the same questions a little while ago. Be sure to see my measured results using an ohm meter to confirm the differences.

They both Balance in the 50's in my soil or I should say this is where they START to go silent as the COIL approaches the Ground or Balance negative ....Hope this helps....Works For me guys.....

The little bit of ohm Value is a none issue if any thing it would probably increase you receiver gain a hair or two...(least thats what i am seeing)....The Micro Henrie's ... Inductance Measurements with an LCR meter is... The main issue .....

Sorry about being.... So bizzy .....I have many projects beside... building and selling detectors....

Of coarse I can NOT say what yours will do......we are all big boys and girls ....and if you want... belly up to the bar.....if your SCARED ....well take two breaths and reread your manual .....the small coil is sweet .....

The Big coil12 X 15 SEF is a.... MONSTER....... equal to T2 LTD and F75 LTD ......BP Depth....and whole LOT faster in trash.... Better... iron see thru....( I know Each.... I own and use... all 3 )

Of coarse again this is My SUPER Bug.... and your mileage may Vary....

Just the way I see EM....

...with the same results as above. Now my ground was not mild but rather was in the 80 range for GB. This may have an affect and may be why Jim had no issues at 50....or may have nothing to do with it at all.
I hope others will try and post what they find in various soils. I would love to be able to use an SEF on the SE but so far had bad results. Again it worked fine for air tests and stability but would just not quite GB.
Now a thought comes to mind...this was an early Cabelas and it is possible that if it had a calibration issue early on it may affect the GB.
Maybe newer versions that had been corrected will work just fine.
Hope other people will try the SEF coils especially....I am sure some people here have friends with an SEF on their F75 and maybe they can give it a try.
I hope Jims results hold up for everyone as they are great coils and we have no choice for bigger coils or even smaller coils on the SE

Got my F75 coil in today. Seems to ground balance fine. My ground is running in the mid 60s. Only difference I can see so far is the 5" coil IDs a nickel at 58, while the 11" IDs the nickel as 57.

That is the only difference I found as well. Just a number or two off on the ID. Funny thing is, I have found that this will sometimes be the case even when switching between the original 5" Tek/GB coil and the 11" Tek coil. :detecting:
