Gold?

Any sure fire ways to tell if something is gold without purchasing expensive equipment?
An acquaintance is selling "gold" charms. No stamp on the charms. I like to make beaded jewelry occasionally and thought the charms would be a nice touch. Would pay for gold if I knew for sure it was gold. If anyone has a gold tester I would send you a charm to check. (you can keep the charm) I would also pay for the test, of course.
I do have a kind of funny detecting story I

and ask if they would test it for you - that's probably the easiest way to do it. I've found in the past that little privately owned jewelry stores in small towns (preferably near where you live) have been the most helpful and have never charged me anything to test diamonds or gold.

As far as your story - you almost learned an expensive lesson - one that Beach/Sand/Water hunters rely on to find loot. Small metal items dropped on sand will sink quickly and get lost mighty fast!

Glad you found it though!

You can put it in bleach ,if it turns Black it's not GOLD!! About 20 to 30 mins. This is a poor mans test kit.
