i am fairly new at this have a minelab explorer a gold ring does not sound all that good like silver but have a gold necklace and the machine says nothing in quickstart or iron mask have my setting on mikes settings dont understand no sound over the gold necklace anyone have a good setting for gold

The gold ring if it is small it will give a medium tone sound like a 5 cent coin if the ring is large it will sound like a penny. You will have to set your screen to be all white then maybe you will get a signal from the gold chain, and if it's a thin small gold chain it will not give off a signal. I have no problem finding large men gold chains but some of the thin lady chains I will not get a signal. Small gold jewelry will show up at the bottom of the screen so have that part open (white screen).
