it seems that on my 70 pro that some gold rings come in under zinc penny? I don't understand that. It was a small thin ring stamped 14gt gold and I thought for sure it would come in at foil or pull tab. I tried a few more gold rings and the same thing happened?

Real large 10kt gold ring can come in Zinc and of course all depends what the gold is mixed with..Indeed small thin 14kt gold should come in at foil. Your unit may need calibration or might try those rings on a club members CZ to make sure. Gee I hope the 14kt you have are not gold filled or plated as they would surely come in high...

Thanks I have found a lot of gold and I use a few differnet machines I just hate zinc pennies the ring is think and white gold thought it was silver but stamped 12gt. The detector reads true on all other readings so maybe it is a gifted detector on gold.

Thanks

That ring is indeed silver or perhaps plated with a lot of copper in it which would explain the reading...My wifes engagement ring is 14 kt white gold which was populiar years ago and reads #8 on a XLT which is real low foil on a CZ...Don't have a prayer what gt means and perhaps one of our learned individuals can chime in...certainly nothing wrong with your unit as many silver items( charms, religious medal etc. will come in Zinc.
