I went out today again with nothing of merit to report...but I did do this when I got home that was sort of fun...We all know air tests are not the same as dirt, but this may give a person an idea or two...Funny thing was the large 18k white gold ring TID...I woulda thought it would read higher on account of its mass and K rating? Nope! Right there solid in Sta-tab city!
The big chain is a nonsense kind of signal, depending on its layout, its all over the board, rig must only be reading one link at a time...
All the tabs out there, and all the can shards and foil right in our wheelhouse of gold signals!
F70 w/11"dd... Set up was 1 disc, 50sens, -2thresh, DP tones, no notch...signals held for @7" with this setting, very solid at 4"..
I remember some rings from days gone by...tids all over the place, from 23 on up...doesnt seem to have anything to do with weight or K..larger circumference seems to dictate a higher TID more than those do..
..
About the only 'standard' sized gold rings out there are class rings from the 60's-70's...womens are at 37 and mens are in zinc it seems...I believe a guy has to concede inland gold is a numbers game coupled with location...Thoughts?
I'm gonna try some alternate coil manipulation techniques over a tab and ring to try to discern a slight audio difference, but I dont think theres really any way a guy can know for sure until popping a target..

....If it gives you any hope, following a lot of posts, generally ALL dedicated gold jewelry hunters find some every year...some years are just better than others though..looking back, most heavy silver hunters find it as well, 'cause they know their gear and dig a lot of targets...set a goal and go after it! Dancer set a goal last year for a 500 nickel season, and found gold along the way...
You know what? I have no doubt I'd find it too! Thats how bad gold fever is for certain people...
..
So now, when I get into such a place, full of oldish 60's vintage tabs and crap, I am reminded of his post along with this old punchline... " With all this crap, There's gotta be a Pony in here somewhere!"

you know I just love this icon
