Gold Tester Question

I have been thinking about what I might buy myself with my Christmas bonus from work this year. One item I am strongly considering is a Mizar gold tester. If any of you have experience with them I would love to hear opinions about how easy they are to use and how accurate. I do not require really precise purity results. I would like to be able to determine: 1. Yes, it is gold. And 2. A range of purity. ie 10k-14k.

I am for sure going to get a Vibraprobe 570 too and probably a Scorcher coil for my GTI 2500.

Blizzard today up here. I know this would probably limit John_Edmonton to 3 hours of hunting but it has been a recliner day for me. I have been eyeing that Secret Santa box all day and, of course, shoveling snow. Also sorted some MD junk and found a few neat little items I missed on the days I found them. I have this big rubbermaid tub full of crap. I guess I thought of another question. What is the minimum weight of copper scrap the scrap metal man would normally consider buying?

Any answers appreciated.

Chris

I have seen bums walk in with what they picked up that day. Not much more than a hand full. It may depend on the buyer.
