4th and most recent find a Sterling Silver serving spoon made between 1840-1872 marked "MSB" Michael Septimus Brown from Halifax Nova Scotia. Strong and stable 12-48 8-10" down on wet sand. Weight 80 Grams :super: -Nov. 7 2013

I do southern Ca. too and today I worked the wet sand by some old posts, must have been a pier or bait shop, I got a 1940's mercury dime and $10.45 in clad in about a hour and a half. and still had to go home due to darkness and left a ton of coins. but will hit it again tomorrow.

Sounds like you have been doing some research Gene. Old piers are hard to find. When I first moved to the San Diego area, I called Don Barthel and bought a copy of his book 'Detecting Southern California Beaches' from him. If you don't have a copy, the book covers just about every beach from the Malibu area to Imperial Beach. Keep up the good work... nes

Heah Nes,

I went back to the same spot today got another $7.70 in clad, and a 1958 rosie plus three wheat cent. This area still has tons of coins in this iron infested area. But it's still no match for the CTX 3030. I pulled a quarter out today , in the scoop with it was a 5'' rusty bolt. It is amazing how the CTX can still give a good target sound next to a piece of iron that big.
