Gold & Silver-At the river

I went dirt fishing yesterday for almost 3 hours and the first hour I worked the boat ramp and found a penny. Then I worked across the swim area to the dock and started back. Got a sound that sounded like trash, but scratchy and found this sterling silver braid type bracelet. I worked about 20 feet back towards the boat ramp and got a signal and the minute I heard it in my headphones, I knew it was gold. 10K ring with JCM trademark stamped on inside of band. Has a cross in the center of the ring. Photos didn't turn out too good for some reason and the sun had just came out from behind the clouds. I was neck deep with my rented wetsuit when I found the gold ring and when I took the wetsuit back today, the guy at the dive shop just charged me for one day and saved me 10 bucks. I think this is my first gold ring this year and add that to a 14K bracelet and I'm a happy camper. When they let the river down, I hope to find enough jewelry to buy a wetsuit. Sorry about these photos. I intend to weigh the ring, bracelet and 1983 coin after church tonight. Maybe the 1983 coin is one of those error coins and hope it weighs 3.1 grams. HH.

Nice finds.........Have often thought about the water hunting but barely seem to have time for normal "dirt fishing". Oh well, maybe someday...................

It's easier on the body to water hunt in fresh water, Jeff. Don't know if I could handle salt water and the waves and currents. I'd like to try sometime, tho. Depends on your age and physical condition more than anything.

Thanks Leslie, I probably dig a lot of targets the pros don't, but usually find something worthwhile. I got skunked yesterday, tho, but enjoyed getting out and feeling the breeze blowing.

I like the way that you described how you hunt... detailed. Have you thougt about doing a youtube video of dirtfishing in the water at a boat ramp, or, swiming hole? You'd be good at it.

Thanks MoSafari, if I could afford a video camera I would like to make some videos. When I first started water hunting in November of 2012, I took a digital camera but messed it up. I later fixed it, but want a go pro camera one of these days. First thing on my wish list is a wetsuit. They start draining the river for maintenance this Saturday and I'll only have a few weeks to work the deep part that's been inaccessible up to now. This spot has been very good to me and I want to hit it as much as I can when the water goes down. Go pro gives away a complete camera set everyday, but I just haven't been lucky. I've emailed the dive shop twice, but haven't heard from them. Probably rent a wetsuit this weekend and order one so I won't have to make the long 100 mile round trip back and forth to rent and take the wetsuit back.
Some of the wild life at the river would be good video, especially seeing an eagle with a fish in his talons flying along and another bird I didn't recognize a few weeks later doing the same thing. The day a bass thought my coil cable was a large worm and kept trying to eat it would have been great.
I found enough jewelry to pay for my At/Pro last year and hope when the water goes down I find enough to pay for a wetsuit. He kept bumping it with his head and it made me think he had did that before and knocked the worm off the hook of some fisherman and then scooped it up and swam off laughing. GL & HH.
