Gold, Silver And Civil War

Sooper Dave

Well-known member
Extremely too busy to detect has been my life the last few months. I have got way too much going and it stinks. But I have been able to sneak out on occasion and this is a post of the few things I've dug. It has also been terribly dry without any rain in over a month. I have gotten some new Civil War permissions but one of them is mainly the side of a steep ridge and you have to be part goat to detect it. I did luck up on a 14k Men's wedding band digging a button type signal. I dug some nice lead including a few stamped 57 base Enfields and found a nice Confederate Knapsack hook along with an Artillery Sabot frag. I got the coins and tokens from a couple of old home and school sites. I would love to see some good rain down this way and more importantly some free time to hunt. Good Luck-David

Awesome finds Dave! That knapsack hook is killer. I have not found one of those before. Been fighting the dry conditions here as well. What is the medal with the old man on the front of it? Greg

Awesome finds Dave. If I'm not mistaken, you live in Knoxville? As you said earlier...it has been so dry here...Knoxville...that I've had no luck at all here. The heat combined with the drought are making things tough...once again...very nice finds.

This is why he is called SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-PER DAVE!!:super:
Just WOW!!!

Soope r Dave great finds and saves of the CW relics. Hit that steep hill when you get a chance. I'll bet some more cool relics are waiting to be found there. I have found throughout the years as other hunters have found, that areas that are hard to get to go hunt whether rough terrain or thick brush, many have bypassed these areas leaving some History in the ground to be found. Best of luck to you.

Man, you made up for some lost time! Amazing finds. Good to see you posting again!

Thanks Greg! Hope you get a knapsack hook and some rain soon. The medal is some type of monk pendant. Not sure who he is though.

Thanks John. I'm in Middle TN. Hope you get some rain and cooler temps soon. So crazy that it's in the upper 90's in October.

Thanks Confetrit. Yeah some of my best finds come from those hard to reach areas. Good luck to you too.

Delightful finds Dave.

Out of interest Dave, can you post a copy of your search screen pattern?......thanks

Thanks. I'm a simple guy. I have been running the same pattern for years and it is basically in quick mask with the top of the screen all open and lines 29 down are blacked out. Nothing fancy for me just plain boring and dig everything. Good luck to ya!
