Gold, Silver and a Couple of Fakes

Treasure Mike

New member
Found the Swiss pocket knife, .925 silver ring and the CZ ring at playgrounds I searched this past week. The "Gold" chain is marked 14 K and .585. I tested it with Mizar gold tester and guess what? it's not gold. This is the third fake gold chain I have found. Now the gold signet ring is real and is marked 18 K and 750. My gold tester showed that it is equal to or greater than 14 K but less than 18 K. So I guess it is somewhere in the middle. I have read that unless the gold jewelry is also marked "KP" for Karat Plumb, there is a good chance that the jewelry will be of a lesser karat than it is marked. Oh well, it weighs 7.6 grams and is a size 8. I found it at an elementary school playground at about 1 inch down. Hit at 26 on the MXT with the Bigfoot coil.

Nice finds, Mike! Too bad about the chain but that looks like a good knife.;)

Have fun, Bob
