Gold ring hallmark help

meggie

Member
I would like some help in identifying this ring please?
These are the only markings it has.
I.ve looked everywhere but am unable to find anything on it.

I think it is 22 karat & it weighs 5.6 grams.
It looks & feels the real deal...

Thanks.

It looks like gold but sometimes in Macro mode the photo will show shadows that make it look different than in the hand. I taking a guess but a rectangle with shaved corners represents gold and the letter C might be the makers mark. But the rectangle looks worn out making it hard to tell what it is, it could be a double headed dragon but that is hard to figure out. It does not look like 22 karat gold on the screen, high karat gold is deeper in orange than what I can see but that's judging from a photo.

10k gold and higher does not tarnish much and if it does it will easily clean up with little effort after a light wash in dish washing liquid and then an ammonia soak.

Looking at my edited photo is that a crack depicted in blue with the number 1, and is this corrosion or flaking in the red number 2?

Yes definitely a macro moment.. the ring has no cracks or flaking whats so ever.
It really is a very nice looking ring.

I've been trying to get some better photo's but it's very difficult.
Any dark area's especially on the rings edges are just shadows..

I've uploaded these two more.

I would say judging from what you say and the photo that the ring is most likely 10 or 14 karat , but the wear and the smash nurelling on the ring points to it possibly beining higher. Any pawn shop or gold buyer will test it for free. The hallmark is too worn for my eyes to make a guess. You might be able to use a burnishing stoned to expose the hallmark by removing the rolled over edges.

Look at the hallmark with a loop or strong mag glass.Try to get the pattern in your mind what it looks like. Then google hallmarks in gold rings. You have to go through all of them.Even go through hallmarks in costume jewelry rings.I found a hallmark for a older ring i found. The main thing is to first identify the mark if you can. Then you can google for example gold ring with crown hallmarks etc... :-Q
