My wife and I recently joined GPAA and want to go out gold hunting, and whatever we can find.. Our kids purchased a Bounty Hunter Fortune Hunter detector for us.. Is this a good starter for gold hunting?? And can it be used for meteorite detection as well ?? What suggestions do you have as to using this for those two objects.. Thank You very much.. Brooks..

There are a number of videos on youtube regarding using metal detectors to find meteorites.
Here is a link to one.

Here in N. Texas I have found 2 nickel meteorites with my BH Pioneer 505 since I got it Nov. I didn't know what I had at first.. First one was really active on my machine but would not pickup on a magnet.. Both are between a quarter & 50 cent piece in size. I was using Autonotch at the time.. Disc or All Metal would be better for the Iron space rocks, I just got lucky..!
To find gold you need to rake into tailing piles or dig down through loose & soft soils.. Gold settles down to bedrock fast whenever it can so don't expect to find it without a bit of work & research... DOC
