Gold program ?

I think it will depend on the mineralization levels of the site. I found a nugget with my Deus in NV and the machine ran o.k. but I have tried the Deus in bad ground in the motherload and it was noisy in the Goldfield program. So much so I have ran it in discrimination mode so it did not annoy me. I anxiously await the new coil and update but I am not holding my breath as I emailed the factory about improving the nugget hunting performance and was less than impressed by their knowledge of nugget hunting in extreme mineralization. But maybe I just suck at explanations and there is the language barrier to consider so I wish to be pleasantly surprised.

i run the deus in the northern az goldfields & it will find nuggets :detecting:

i run the sensitivy 75- 80 in most ground but in extream ground no vlf works right

love my deus

Hi Walt; I have just returned from Maldon in the Victorian Goldfields having spent two very interesting days learning the Golf Fields prog which you gave me, I had the sens turned down to 75 and the machine was very stable and let me know when there was something in the ground.I used a small piece of my wifes jewellery as a test piece and it found it very easily everytime I buried I. I found a 5 cent piece, very small nails, Rivets. tin, Pieces of Iron machinery but sadly NO GOLD. however the area where we were searching produced a lot of Gold in the early days so maybe on another occasion I might get lucky, I have no doubt that the machine is capable of finding the precious metal it is left to the detectorist to squeeze it out of the ground,I shall return at Xmas time but with the addition of a piece of Khaki Muslin to keep the flies away as they were more than friendly.oneill

good deal oneill

glad you made it back

good to hear the deus was working well

you have to get the machine over the gold to find it :detecting:

a fly net sounds like a good idea

stay in touch

The Deus is a very capable vlf nugget hunter, not quite as sensitive as the GB 2 on sub grain pieces, but deeper on10 grain and larger nuggets. Certainly not as deep as a PI in mineralization. I found a 4 grain nugget two days ago with the Deus.

The background of the GOLD FIELD program says something in and of itself. When the African gold rush was in full swing, manufacturers were working to fill the demand and XP was one of them. They wanted a detector that would pick up the gold and be simple to operate so the built a Deus-looking unit with the only program being the GOLD FIELD program. It worked and a number of the units were sold with great success in the gold areas in Africa.

When V3.X was released, they added that program to the mix giving people 10 preset programs and 8 open slots to store custom settings.

It is a VLF unit and as such is not claiming to get PI performance but like the Tesoro Lobo Supertraq, it gives you a detector that can search the old mining camps for coins and relics and with the touch of a button, switch to a gold hunter.

Setting the GOLD FIELD program takes a little practice but the way I teach people how to use it is to take some small lead shot / sinkers and get used to what they sound like . . . not like what a coin at 3 inches will but get your ear trained and you will do fine with a combination unit.

Let me know if you want more details on setting and using that mode but it sounds like there are some experienced users here as well

Hi Andy & Charlene; Yes I do require detailed instructions on how to setup the Gold Program/I have told you previously that I have always been a switch on and go person and as you know the Deus is a different design to a Minelab Sov so if you would be so kind would you please give me your instructions for using the Deus in The Australian Goldfields, I do mean Step by Step so that I get it right and maybe prove that the Deus can find gold here, thanks for all of your advice in the past.regards. oneill

HI Andy; I have written to you before on this very important setting which I am not sure I have because I used to be a switch on and go guy, would you be so kind as to go through every aspect of the Gold Prog so that I might get lucky in setting up and one day find a small nugget. regards. Oneill

Hi Andy,

I would also like some detailed step by step instruction particularly as I will be using my XP Deus in the Western Australian Goldfields which is highly mineralised ground.
Any help on getting the settings correct would be a great help. Thanks Windsor

If you already own a DEUS then it will be perfectly adequate for nugget detecting in Alaska. I would not buy it specifically for that task however, if that is what you are asking. Detectors can be had for half as much that would do as well.

Hi Andy & Charlene; there seems to be a number of us who require detailed instructions on using the Gold Prog, have you by any chance made a video of exactly how to set the Deus up for the Gold Prog, that would be a real help to us all, please advise. oneill
